Job Description

We are currently seeking a Group Exercise Instructor for the Greater Waco YMCA. The Group Exercise Instructor will lead group exercise classes for our Silver Sneakers. Candidates should be energetic, enthusiastic, and dependable. A primary group exercise certification, current Silver Sneakers certification, and experience teaching Silver Sneakers classes are required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teach Silver Sneakers Circuit, Classic, Boom Move or Boom Muscle Keep current primary group exercise certification and Silver Sneakers certification through a national certifying association Attend all staff meetings and trainings as scheduled Ensure class is set-up, starts/ends on time and equipment is stored appropriately Follow association/branch dress code Teach each class as formatted by the Health and Fitness Director and maintain agreed upon class attendance minimums Shares fitness program information with members, using available tools and resources Communicates with members and program participants while building relationships in support of their individual needs Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants Have a positive, enthusiastic and respectful attitude Strong communication and interpersonal skills Creative, caring and committed Desire to continually learn and improve
QUALIFICATIONS
Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent Must be reliable with a good attendance record Have a good knowledge of fitness and wellness Be friendly, courteous, enthusiastic, possess a cooperative attitude, and be a team player Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations Be willing to uphold the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, responsibility, respect, and faith CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire Be able to pass reference check, pre-employment drug screen, background check and sex offender check
