Holistic approach to Obesity Prevention and Education, HOPE's primary mission is to decrease the prevalence of pediatric obesity. Our three-prong approach is rendered with compassion to those affected by obesity.
EMPLOYMENT
This position will be filled as an hourly, non- exempt employee.
SUMMARY:
The Fitness Trainer is vital position to the holistic way. The Fitness Trainer is responsible for instructing and motivating individuals and groups in the exercise activities. The Fitness Trainer will assist with ensuring all services meet the mission of the agency and the department goals are being met on a daily basis. The Fitness Trainer will create fitness routines that assist clients in reaching their fitness goals, monitor clients on their status and make changes to their individual fitness plans based on any physical changes and increased or decreased fitness levels. The Fitness Trainer is responsible for the provision of fitness education and exercise activities for the client's 6-18, and their families to promote exercise options at home or a gym setting.
JOB DESCRIPTION
With minimal supervision from the Managing Director the Fitness Trainer (FT) must be able to work effectively on a team. This position requires strong collaborative, writing, speaking, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines, multitask, thrive in a busy environment, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality. In this position the FT provides collaborative support for the agency Behavior Health, Nutrition & Administrative departments. FT assists with development of new fitness programs; performs general administrative functions and ensures compliance in all three departments daily.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Master the policies and procedures of the agency and the fitness department, adhering to them to ensure the provision of appropriate and consistent services to the clients and the protection of the agency. Provide fitness education for clients and their families through one-on- one counseling and group sessions. Lead fitness sessions and observe clients during sessions to educate and demonstrate proper techniques to minimize injury and improve fitness. Recruit and retain current & future clients The Fitness Trainer maintains an active caseload of clients as assigned by the MD and is required to facilitate individual sessions with clients and parents on a monthly basis (more if needed). Distribute patient education information to clients and parents. Work with fitness team to determine the goals that team members, interns and your department will work toward and make progress towards achieving them.
ADMINSTRATIVE DUTIES
Attend, contribute to all mandatory staff and department meetings, continuing education sessions or trainings. Managing the day- to day activities/ tasks of the fitness team and interns Assist with recruitment, hiring and provide leadership and supervision to interns Motivate and assist team with maintaining caseloads and rendering case management services on a monthly basis. Develop and maintain HOPE's fitness curriculum and offer suggestions for continuous improvement.
REQUIREMENTS
Valid Virginia driver's license; automobile in safe operating condition; liability insurance and a good driving record; drug & criminal record clearance; ability to pass physical exam. Proficiency with Microsoft Word software is required, as well as familiarity with client record management software. In this position the Lead must be able to quickly learn the software and communication systems the company uses.

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit, as well as talk and hear. 2. The employee is required to use hands to operate vehicles and office equipment. 3. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. 4. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
