POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Personal Trainers at the South Wood County YMCA create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while instructing classes in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Model the YMCA's commitment to improving health and well-being Design and implement biomechanically sound personal training programs and progressions directly related to the client's level and goals; document the clients progress and maintain client files Consistently indicate availability Allow adequate time pre/post session to engage with participants to help build community Be knowledgeable of and enforce YMCA procedures and protocols related to fitness programming Respond immediately to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures Attend and contribute to all mandatory staff meetings, workshops and in-services Responsible for maintaining continuing education credits (CEC's) Any other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum age of 18 High School Diploma or GED Knowledgeable of exercise physiology, kinesiology safe training procedures, exercise program implementation, and proper cardiovascular, resistance, free weight and related fitness equipment Professional and friendly customer service skills and clear verbal communication Ability to work with all age groups and fitness levels Strong planning and organizational skills Willingness and ability to work early mornings, evenings and weekends Hold an NCCA Accredited personal training certification, required CPR/AED, & First Aid certified Mandated Reporter Training Complete Developing Empathy for Those with Excess Weight (Link) Complete Principles of Member Health and Wellness (Link) Complete Group Exercise at the Y (Link) Complete SMART Service and New Hire Orientation 1-3 years prior experience preferred

Physically perform all skills required of a personal trainer Ability to lift equipment, up to 50lbs Be observant and attend to members who appear to be in distress
