JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree is required. The resident must be fully licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Arkansas (successfully passing the NAPLEX and Arkansas Law Exam and having an active pharmacist license) within 90 days of the beginning of residency. Experience Previous experience in hospital pharmacy is preferred. Physical This is a safety sensitive position. Please see the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information. Normal hospital environment. Normal/corrected eyesight. Hearing within normal range. Operates computer, typewriter, calculator. Finger dexterity. Eye-hand coordination. Frequent sitting, standing and walking. May lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Some exposure to chemical hazards when making chemotherapy.
JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Resident is an active participant in an intensive 12-month postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program. The purpose of the pharmacy residency program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.

D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. Residents must be committed to attaining professional competence beyond entry level practice, committed to attaining the program's education goals and objectives, and supportive of the organization's mission and values. The pharmacy resident participates in the following required learning experiences under the direction of an experienced pharmacist: Antimicrobial Stewardship, Clinical Services, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Pharmacy Practice (staffing), Internal Medicine, Nutrition Support, Pharmacy Management and Leadership, and Pharmacy Orientation. Elective learning experiences will be offered. The resident must progress over the course of the residency to be more efficient, effective, and able to work independently in providing direct patient care. The resident completes a teaching certificate program to promote and support the development of teaching and assessment skills, helping them serve as effective educators. The resident designs and implements one major research project and presents his/her research at a clinical meeting.
