Category Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacist Job Type Direct Hire A health system in Carpinteria, CA, is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist with expertise in oncology to join their team on a direct hire basis. This role offers the opportunity to serve as the subject matter expert for both inpatient and outpatient oncology programs within a respected non-profit health system. This position requires a highly qualified candidate with a strong clinical pharmacy background, ideally with a PGY2 oncology residency or equivalent experience. The role involves working closely with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive medication management and support oncology patients throughout their treatments.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive medication management, including ordering lab tests, selecting therapies, and managing adverse events Verify chemotherapy orders and protocols for accuracy, dosage appropriateness, and safety Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, manage chemotherapy side effects, and improve medication adherence Collaborate with providers and nurses during clinical rounds to make informed treatment decisions Participate in clinical trials, manage investigational drugs, and develop institutional oncology protocols and guidelines
Qualifications:
PharmD or BS in Pharmacy Ability to obtain California pharmacist license Completion of PGY2 or oncology fellowship OR PGY1 plus 3 years of oncology clinical specialist experience OR 5 years as an oncology clinical specialist Board certification in oncology (BCOP) preferred
