Category Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacist Job Type Direct Hire A unique opportunity exists for a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Oncology within a respected non-profit health system serving Santa Barbara County. This role offers the chance to apply advanced clinical expertise in a beautiful coastal setting known for its exceptional weather and quality of life. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will split their time between inpatient care and outpatient infusion services, acting as the subject matter expert on oncology medication management across the health system. This position is ideal for a highly experienced clinical pharmacist—preferably with specialized oncology training—ready to impact patient care directly in both hospital and outpatient environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive medication management, including lab test ordering, therapy selection, and adverse event monitoring Verify chemotherapy orders and protocols for accuracy, dosage appropriateness, and safety Educate patients and caregivers on oncology treatment plans, side effect management, and medication adherence Collaborate with providers and nursing staff during clinical rounds to optimize treatment decisions Participate in clinical trials, oversee investigational drug use, and develop institutional oncology protocols and guidelines
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
PharmD or BS in Pharmacy Eligibility or ability to obtain California pharmacist license Completion of PGY2 oncology residency or fellowship, OR PGY1 plus 3 years of oncology clinical specialist experience, OR 5+ years' experience as a clinical oncology specialist Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) preferred
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, day shifts
