Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate PIC I nfusion Pharmacist to join our team at our state-of-the-art infusion pharmacy in Long Beach, California. As a PIC Infusion Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality pharmaceutical care for patients receiving intravenous (IV) medications and therapies. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe preparation and administration of medications, managing drug therapy, and offering clinical expertise to patients and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Review patient prescriptions and medical histories to ensure safe and effective drug therapies for infusion patients. Prepare, compound, and dispense intravenous medications, ensuring compliance with pharmacy laws and regulations. Conduct thorough patient counseling regarding infusion therapy, potential side effects, and proper usage. Collaborate with healthcare providers (doctors, nurses, etc.) to ensure optimal treatment plans. Monitor patient progress and adjust therapy as necessary to ensure the best clinical outcomes. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and medication logs. Adhere to all infection control standards and pharmacy safety protocols, including those for sterile compounding. Ensure strict compliance with USP 797 (Pharmaceutical Compounding
  • Sterile Preparations), USP 795 (Pharmaceutical Compounding
  • Nonsterile Preparations), and USP 800 (Hazardous Drugs
  • Handling in Healthcare Settings) regulations.
Ensure compliance with all federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations, including California state requirements. Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with new medications and therapies in the infusion field. Provide excellent customer service to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
Qualifications:
Pharmacy Doctorate (PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy. Active and valid California Pharmacist License in good standing. Experience in an infusion pharmacy setting or intravenous medication preparation is highly preferred. Strong understanding of
USP 797 , USP 795
, and USP 800 regulations. Experience with computer software systems , especially Caretends , is a plus. Strong understanding of clinical pharmacology, drug interactions, and patient safety. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate and counsel patients effectively. Ability to work in a professional environment with attention to detail. Ability to collaborate with other healthcare professionals in a team-based care setting. Compassionate, patient-focused attitude and a commitment to providing excellent patient care. Knowledge of the latest pharmacy laws, including those specific to California, is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Certification in sterile compounding (CSP) or infusion therapy. Previous experience with specialty or home infusion therapy. Why Join Us?
