Direct Hire Position Summary The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) oversees all aspects of pharmacy operations, ensuring the delivery of top-quality patient care while strictly adhering to industry regulations and standards. This role serves as the clinical and operational leader for a specialized home infusion pharmacy, managing compliance, sterile compounding, patient care coordination, and team development. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in home infusion therapies, a deep mastery of sterile compounding standards, and a hands-on, collaborative leadership style. Key Responsibilities Pharmacy Operations & Compliance Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring all workflows and practices line up with state and federal regulations. Ensure the pharmacy and its staff strictly adhere to all guidelines and best practices specific to home infusion therapies. Manage pharmacy inventory, guaranteeing the proper storage, handling, and disposal of medications and supplies. Direct all record-keeping, documentation, and periodic audits to maintain compliance and high-quality care. Oversee all aspects of sterile compounding operations, including formulation, preparation, packaging, and labeling. Patient Care & Clinical Collaboration Oversee the preparation and dispensing of medications, ensuring absolute accuracy and safety. Collaborate with healthcare providers to customize and optimize medication regimens for patients receiving home infusion therapies. Provide medication therapy management, patient counseling, and clinical education related to home infusion treatments. Leadership & Team Management Lead, train, and mentor pharmacy staff to ensure a cohesive, efficient, and accountable team environment. Promote continuous learning, keeping the team updated on the latest home infusion therapies and technologies. Address staff concerns, conflicts, or performance issues in a timely, fair, and professional manner. Stakeholder Collaboration Liaise with healthcare professionals, manufacturers, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. Represent the organization in professional and industry forums, sharing clinical knowledge and networking with peers in the home infusion space.
Qualifications Required Licensure:
A valid, active Pharmacist license in the state of California.
Experience:
Extensive experience (5+ years preferred) specifically in the home infusion pharmacy space.
Clinical Standards:
Thorough understanding and practical application of USP and USP standards for sterile compounding.
Leadership:
Demonstrated leadership abilities with direct experience managing a pharmacy team.
Regulations:
Strong, up-to-date knowledge of California state and federal pharmacy regulations.
Core Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
