The Pharmacist will work as part of a centralized pharmacy operation supporting medication services for patients within correctional facilities. The role involves medication order review, dispensing, verification, inventory management, and collaboration with pharmacy and healthcare staff. Key Responsibilities Review and verify prescription and medication orders for accuracy, completeness, legality, and appropriateness. Evaluate medications for proper dosage, drug interactions, drug selection, and potential safety concerns. Prepare, compound, dispense, and verify medications and pharmaceutical preparations. Perform medication order entry and prescription label preparation. Prepare and/or verify IV admixtures as required. Maintain accurate records of medications, controlled substances, and pharmacy inventory. Support medication delivery systems and ensure proper medication handling and storage. Provide medication-related consultation to healthcare staff when needed. Provide guidance to Pharmacy Technicians as appropriate. Follow all applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, facility policies, and safety procedures. Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements Current and active California Pharmacist (RPh/PharmD) license. License must remain in good standing throughout employment. Strong knowledge of medication safety, dispensing, drug interactions, and pharmacy regulations. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a structured correctional healthcare environment. Previous hospital, institutional, correctional, or healthcare pharmacy experience is preferred. Work Environment This position is based inside a secure Correctional pharmacy facility in Sacramento, CA. The Pharmacist will work alongside Pharmacy Technicians and healthcare professionals in a structured and regulated environment focused on the safe and accurate preparation and distribution of medications.
