Job Description

If you are an experienced pharmacist looking for the next phase of growth in your career, this compounding pharmacist position may be for you. In this position, you will: consult with doctors and patients on customized formulas to meet their unique needs formulate custom medications, after training with your fellow pharmacist team and with resources to support you such as the Professional Compounding Centers of America ensure medications are made accurately following strict quality assurance protocols in our lab verify final prescriptions to meet unique patient medication needs You do not need to have compounding experience to apply. Your fellow pharmacist team of five, who will support you in your training, have come from various backgrounds in long-term care pharmacy and retail pharmacy. What you do need is curiosity, dedication, and grit to learn and become an expert in the field of compounding pharmacy; a genuine commitment to personal patient care; an ability and interest in problem-solving; a team mindset; and excellent communication skills when consulting with prescribers and patients and working with your colleagues. Company Background Koshland Pharm is a pharmacy located in downtown San Francisco that serves patients by providing them with customized medications with professionalism and a high level of care. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of patients through creative solutions to health challenges and through high-quality, personalized medications. We are a unique pharmacy where all of our medications are made on-site. We are a small company of thirty-five employees who are committed to working together on common goals and supporting each others' growth and development in our work positions and careers. At Koshland Pharm, we specialize in medications used for hormone replacement therapy and thyroid treatments, and we work with many functional medicine and naturopathic doctors. We also work with family practice, pain, dermatology, urology, psychiatry, and other specialized clinics that utilize a wide range of compounded medications to best serve their patients' needs. We are the only compounding pharmacy in San Francisco accredited by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board, demonstrating our commitment to safety and quality. We know that high-quality medications lead to the best patient outcomes, and we are committed to the highest standards in both quality assurance and customer service. The Position Our pharmacists are an integral part of Koshland Pharm, responsible for improving patients' health and well-being through personalized medicine and care. Our pharmacy is focused on building, maintaining and deepening relationships with patients and doctors, both existing and new. We are looking for a full-time compounding pharmacist to join our team. Position Duties Works Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, 10am-6:30pm. Answers phones and consults with patients and doctors about customized medications. Assists in developing compounded formulations. Uses appropriate resources to ensure each compound's stability and potency. Communicates closely with doctors and patients to ensure optimal treatment outcomes. Counsels patients on their customized medications. Advises doctors in customized formulas to meet unique patients' needs. Supervises technicians making medications. Ensures that compounded medications have been prepared, labeled, stored and packaged properly. Consistently looks for ways to help co-workers achieve success with their jobs and consistently exhibits a solution-oriented mindset. Works collaboratively with fellow staff members to ensure the smooth running of pharmacy operations. Actively participates in and contributes to daily team huddles and monthly team meetings.
Position Requirements Education:
PharmD or professional degree with RPh license.
Licensure:
Current pharmacist license in good standing with California State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience:
At least 2 years of pharmacy experience in busy retail setting. 3+ years of tenure in past job preferred.
Technology:
Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Excel. Familiar with pharmacy software systems and open/able to learning new systems. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Employee must be able to climb stairs. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and use a computer screen, mouse, and keyboard. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 5 pounds.
