We're seeking an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead a team of 11 pharmacists supporting pharmacy operations across 6-7 states. This is not a desk-only leadership role—you'll be an active member of the pharmacy team while overseeing compliance, staffing, workflow, and operational excellence. We're looking for a critical thinker and strong leader who enjoys solving complex operational challenges, developing teams, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy environment.
What You'll Do As the Pharmacist in Charge, you'll provide both operational leadership and hands-on pharmacy support by: Leading and mentoring a team of 11 pharmacists Maintaining Board of Pharmacy and regulatory compliance across multiple states Managing pharmacist schedules, staffing rotations, and workflow to maximize efficiency Supporting high-volume prescription fulfillment and verification Performing pharmacist duties including prescription and order verification Monitoring quality metrics and leading corrective action investigations Coaching pharmacists to improve performance and achieve operational goals Partnering with leadership to optimize staffing, productivity, and patient care Supporting onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing professional development Driving continuous process improvement while maintaining exceptional compliance standards What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications PharmD or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy Current Colorado Pharmacist License Current California Pharmacist License or ability to obtain one Willingness to obtain additional pharmacist licenses (including California and Virginia) within the first 12-18 months Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing pharmacists and/or pharmacy technicians Experience in a high-volume pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, fulfillment, clinical operations, or pharmacy operations environment Strong knowledge of Board of Pharmacy regulations and compliance Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills The Ideal Candidate We're looking for someone who is: A critical thinker who makes sound decisions under pressure A collaborative, approachable leader who develops strong teams Comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with daily pharmacist duties Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail Passionate about quality improvement and operational excellence Able to lead through change while maintaining compliance and patient safety Why This Opportunity? Important Requirements:
Must be local to the Boulder, CO area. This position requires consistent on-site leadership, and a lengthy daily commute is not ideal. Must currently hold or be able to obtain a California Pharmacist License. Must be willing to obtain additional state pharmacist licenses, including Virginia, as business needs require.
