Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Contract A rehabilitation hospital in Georgetown, DE is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist in Charge to manage and staff its pharmacy operations. This contract opportunity requires providing leadership and ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications in a 36-bed rehab facility.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) overseeing pharmacy services. Provide direct pharmacy staffing coverage for approximately 40 hours per week. Supervise one pharmacy technician per shift, coordinating with a team of 1 pharmacist and 2 technicians (full-time and PRN). Manage pharmacy operations using Wellsky pharmacy information system and operate the Pyxis automation system. Prepare and compound intravenous medications; no chemotherapy compounding required. Participate in weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage as needed. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and hospital policies to maintain quality patient care.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
Licensed Pharmacist with valid state licensure and qualifications to serve as PIC. Experience working in a hospital or rehabilitation setting preferred. Proficiency in IV compounding techniques. Familiarity with Wellsky pharmacy information systems and Pyxis automation is highly desirable. Strong leadership and organizational skills to oversee pharmacy staff and operations. Ability to work flexible schedules including potential weekends and after-hours.
Schedule:
Typically 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM hours, 40 hours per week. Weekend, after-hours, and on-call responsibilities may apply.
