POSITION FUNCTIONS
  • Is responsible for the dispensing of all drugs, chemicals, biologicals, pharmaceuticals and controlled substances.
  • Carries out rules and regulations pertaining to administrative and professional written policies and procedures of pharmacy services and assists in their development.
  • Monitors all posting onto patients profiles in order that accuracy, drug allergies, drug to drug interactions, rational drug therapy and drug compatibilities are reviewed so that better patient care may be realized and achieved.
  • Assists in maintaining records and bookkeeping in accordance with policy for recording patient charges for prescriptions and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Maintains adequate control over the requisition process and the dispensing of all pharmaceuticals received and issued.
  • Assists in the supervision activities of pharmacy personnel according to policies, standard practices of the profession and state and federal laws.
  • Assists in maintaining operational requirements for licensure and accreditation process.
  • Assist in maintaining, in designated medication storage areas, limited stock of commonly used pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains a strict control over the distribution and usage of controlled substances, including necessary documentation.
  • Places orders for drugs and supplies with pharmaceutical wholesalers and via the requisition process. Verifies receipt of all merchandise and processes according to policy.
  • Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to established policies and procedures, state and federal laws.
  • Checks all prescriptions that are received to insure dosage are reasonable and the drugs are chemically and physiologically compatible.
  • Provides the professional knowledge and skills related to pharmacy services to assure that all patients receive ultimate quality and safety in drug therapy.
  • Takes an active involvement in Performance Improvement.
  • Identifies, intervenes, documents, and reports risk management issues.
  • Adheres to company safety and hazardous materials policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, skills and experience:
  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Holds current State of Florida license to practice pharmacy.
  • Prefer more than 2 years retail pharmacy experience.
  • Must be neat and clean.
  • Able to remain functional in situations of stress.
