Job Description

Pharmacist In Charge The Pharmacist-in-Charge, or Pharmacy Manager, holds a pivotal leadership role in pharmacy operations. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of pharmacy management, this position ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of pharmaceutical services to our clients and patients. The Pharmacy Manager plays a vital role in the overall success of our pharmacy and the well-being of our patients. This position requires a strong commitment to pharmacy practice excellence, leadership, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Pharmacy Operations:
Oversee daily pharmacy operations, including prescription processing, medication dispensing, inventory management, and staff scheduling.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice, including DEA, FDA, and HIPAA requirements.
Pharmaceutical Care:
Provide pharmaceutical care to patients by reviewing and verifying medication orders, counseling patients on medication usage, and conducting medication therapy management.
Patient-Centered Care:
Dispense all legally valid prescriptions and ensure comprehensive access to care for all patients, without exception, while upholding strict clinical and safety standards.
Continuity of Care:
Ensure the fulfillment of all valid prescribed medications in alignment with corporate compliance and unrestricted, non-discriminatory patient access.
Staff Management:
Recruit, train, and supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, to ensure optimal performance and adherence to policies and procedures.
Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure the accuracy and safety of medication dispensing and related activities.
Customer Service:
Foster a culture of exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries and concerns while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
Budget Management:
Manage the pharmacy budget, monitor expenses, and work to maximize cost-effectiveness and profitability.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and agencies to provide comprehensive patient care, resolve medication-related issues, and participate in interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement, implement best practices, and monitor key performance indicators to enhance pharmacy operations and patient outcomes.
Health & Wellness Events:
Represent the pharmacy at local health fairs, wellness clinics, and community outreach events, including potentially coordinating and administering on-site vaccine clinics.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Partner effectively with internal stakeholders (such as HR, benefits teams, and client services) and external partners (including clients, community organizations, and other healthcare vendors) to optimize pharmacy programs and drive patient engagement. Perform other job duties as assigned. Qualifications Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or RPh degree from an accredited pharmacy school Current and valid pharmacist licensure in the state of practice Minimum of three years related pharmacy experience Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals, pharmacotherapy, and pharmacy law Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent customer service skills Attention to detail and accuracy in payment processing and issuing medication Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment Ability to work on a rotating Saturday schedule Proficiency in pharmacy software and computer systems Leadership abilities, including team management and development Problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions Dedication to patient safety, quality, and ethical pharmacy practice Integrity and trustworthiness Compassion and empathy Dependability and punctuality Ability to maintain patient confidentiality Professionalism and strong work ethic Valid driver's license Valid auto insurance Preferred Qualifications Minimum of two years supervisory experience Physical Conditions & Requirements Work is primarily conducted in a retail pharmacy setting, which may include standing for extended periods, exposure to various medications and healthcare equipment, and interactions with patients and healthcare professionals. The ability to lift and carry boxes or containers of medications and supplies (up to 25 pounds) is required, along with the manual dexterity for bending, stooping, reaching, and handling medication containers, labels, and pharmacy equipment. Visual acuity is required for reading small print on prescription labels and using computer screens.
