Job Description

Join Our Team Deaconess Health System is seeking a highly motivated Pharmacy Resident (PGY1) to join our Pharmacy Services team. This residency program is designed to develop competent clinical pharmacists through structured training experiences that build expertise in patient care, medication management, interdisciplinary collaboration, and pharmacy operations. As a Pharmacy Resident, you will work closely with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective, and evidence‑based medication therapy while advancing your clinical knowledge and professional skills. Provide direct patient care through required and elective clinical rotations. Develop proficiency in medication therapy management, clinical decision‑making, and patient safety initiatives. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes. Gain experience in pharmacy operations, distribution systems, and medication-use processes. Participate in quality improvement, research, and medication safety initiatives. Fulfill residency requirements including project completion, presentations, and evaluations. What You Will Do Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care, including medication review, dosing, monitoring, and therapeutic recommendations. Participate in daily patient care rounds with interdisciplinary teams. Respond to medication-related questions from providers, nurses, and patients. Participate in medication reconciliation and discharge counseling. Support pharmacy operations, including order verification, distribution, and medication safety activities. Complete a residency research project and present findings at local, regional, or national forums. Participate in teaching and precepting activities as appropriate. Comply with residency program policies, documentation standards, and accreditation requirements. What You Will Need Required Qualifications Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE‑accredited college or school of pharmacy Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in the State of Indiana Successful match through the ASHP Resident Matching Program Strong communication, time management, and problem‑solving skills Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced healthcare environment Preferred Qualifications Previous hospital or health‑system pharmacy experience Demonstrated interest in clinical pharmacy practice, research, or leadership Teaching, presentation, or academic experience
