Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Pharmacy Administration Job Family Professional Work Shift Days (United States of America) Summary Responsible for demonstrating clinical and operational knowledge and expertise as it relates to assessment, treatment, and care of patients. Lead, monitor, and supervise pharmacists within their team to achieve goals that contribute to the growth of their team and provided services. Will also be expected to implement and maintain clinical rounding services. Complete medication orders and consults for their designated teams. Assist with orienting and training new employees, and will provide opportunities for the development, evaluation, and advancement of residents and students by serving as a preceptor. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures, and protocols Reviews/interprets culture and susceptibility data for antibiotic appropriateness and recommends changes as necessary Assist with pharmacokinetics consult services and drug dosing per organizational protocol Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions and medication errors accurately and in a timely manner Creates a sustainable rounding schedule to provide clinical pharmacy services to patients Precepts, evaluates, and serves as a mentor to pharmacy learners including

pharmacy residents and PharmD students Develops and implements quality improvement measures to improve patient care and staff efficiency Ensures pharmacy services are provided in a timely manner based on team responsibilities that are reflected by peer bench-marking and set by clinical services manager Facilitates the development and implementation of evidence-based treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes, and critical pathways as approved by the appropriate committees Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training:
Doctor of Pharmacy required Licensed as a pharmacist by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) OR immediate eligibility for board certification within 6 months OR subject area expertise as demonstrated by 10 years of clinical experience in designated area (e.g. pharmacotherapy (BCPS), cardiology (BCCP), critical care (BCCCP)) required PGY2 in an acute care setting or equivalent practice experience OR PGY1 Residency plus 3 years of clinical experience preferred
Work Experience:
3 years clinical practice experience after obtaining a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or completion of ASHP residency required Previous Infectious Disease experience preferred Previous experience in data collection and analysis preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language Good communication skills, both oral and written Interpersonal skills that promote cooperative peer behavior Knowledge of drugs and how they act and interact Knowledge of Pharmacy laws (state and national)
Physical Requirements:
