Job Description

As a Staff Pharmacist at Walmart, you'll ensure safe, accurate medication dispensing while providing exceptional patient counseling in a fast paced retail environment. You'll verify prescriptions, administer immunizations, and oversee pharmacy technicians to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations. Partnering with store leadership, you'll manage inventory, resolve insurance issues, and drive clinical services. Responsibilities Accurately verify and dispense prescriptions in compliance with state and federal laws Provide patient counseling on medications, side effects, and disease state management Administer immunizations and other clinical services per Walmart and regulatory guidelines Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians, delegating tasks appropriately Perform drug utilization reviews and intervene to resolve therapy or safety issues Manage pharmacy inventory, ordering, and controlled substance handling Process and troubleshoot insurance and third party claims for customers Maintain accurate documentation, records, and regulatory compliance Collaborate with store and health & wellness leadership to drive pharmacy performance Support quality assurance, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts Required Skills Medication dispensing and verification Patient counseling and education Immunization administration Drug utilization review (DUR) Pharmacy inventory management Insurance and third party claim processing Pharmacy management systems (e.g., Connexus/Enterprise Rx or similar) Regulatory and compliance knowledge (state and federal) Clinical decision-making and triage Quality assurance and safety protocols
