Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Pharmacist Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for a Pharmacist to serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and Pharmacy Manager at a rehabilitation hospital in the Kansas City area. This role involves direct patient care and operational leadership within a 48-bed facility, supporting an average daily census of 45 patients.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the PIC, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. Provide pharmacy staffing coverage, working 40 hours per week. Oversee pharmacy technicians during shifts, with direct supervision of 1 tech per shift. Manage and coordinate pharmacy operations, including medication distribution and inventory. Utilize Wellsky pharmacy information system and Pyxis automation systems effectively. Perform IV compounding (excluding chemotherapy). Support weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage in coordination with a team of six PRN pharmacists who rotate on call. Qualifications /
Desired Experience:
Current licensure as a Pharmacist with the ability to obtain and hold PIC designation. Experience working in a hospital or rehabilitation setting preferred. Proficiency with IV compounding and familiarity with pharmacy automation (Pyxis) and information systems (Wellsky). Strong leadership and communication skills to oversee pharmacy staff. Availability for potential weekend, after-hours, or on-call shifts as needed.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Possible weekend, after-hours, and on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis. This contract position offers the chance to play a key leadership role in a dedicated rehab hospital pharmacy while maintaining an active pharmacist role.
