Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Per Diem A per diem Pharmacist position is available to support inpatient pharmacy operations at a surgical hospital specializing in reconstructive, plastic, and orthopedic surgeries. This role demands expertise in inpatient and IV pharmacy practices within a hospital setting. The position requires coverage from June 22 to July 8, Monday through Friday, with specific daily hours and on-call responsibilities.
Location:
New Orleans, LA 70130 (local candidates highly preferred)
Schedule/Hours:
Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM On-call Monday through Thursday evenings, 2:30 PM - 6:00 AM No weekend coverage
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Louisiana Pharmacist license required Experience with inpatient pharmacy and intravenous (IV) preparations Familiarity with hospital order entry systems, preferably Thrive (training provided) Experience with Pyxis automation system preferred (training provided) Ability to perform sterile compounding for immediate use only Previous hospital pharmacy experience, especially in surgical specialties, is an asset
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately enter medication orders in the electronic system Prepare and dispense IV medications according to protocols Perform sterile compounding (immediate use) Replenish Pyxis medication dispensing units Provide on-call pharmacy support after hours Monday through Thursday Collaborate with clinical and surgical teams to ensure timely medication delivery Adhere to hospital policies including dress code (black scrubs) and safety standards
