Pittsfield, Massachusetts Position Overview We are seeking a Staff Pharmacist to join an established hospital pharmacy team in a full-time day-shift position. This pharmacist will help ensure medications are reviewed, prepared, and dispensed safely and accurately while serving as a clinical medication resource for physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, patients, and families. New graduate pharmacists are encouraged to apply. Candidates without traditional hospital pharmacy experience may also be considered when they bring strong, relevant pharmacy experience and demonstrate the ability to transition successfully into an acute-care environment. Key Responsibilities- Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of medications and pharmaceutical products for patient use.
- Provide medication and drug-information support to physicians, nurses, healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
- Support safe medication-use practices and established pharmacy workflows.
- Work effectively with automated medication-dispensing technology and related pharmacy systems.
- Follow applicable pharmacy policies, procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Work independently within established procedures and professional standards.
- Provide direction and oversight to pharmacy support personnel as appropriate. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited pharmacy program.
- Current Massachusetts Pharmacist license.
- Ability to work independently within established policies and procedures.
- Ability to supervise and provide direction to pharmacy support staff.
- Strong attention to medication safety, accuracy, and detail. Preferred Qualifications
- One to two years of hospital pharmacy experience is preferred but not required .
- New graduate pharmacists are welcome to apply.
- Strong pharmacists coming from comparable practice settings may be considered without previous hospital experience.
- Experience with pharmacy computer systems and unit-dose medication distribution is preferred.
- IV admixture and parenteral chemotherapy preparation experience is a plus. Key Skills Required
