DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Staff Pharmacist in Oncology is responsible for providing patient -centered care in a multidisciplinary practice setting with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other personnel. Services provided include assessing patient therapy for appropriateness, incorporating age specific modifications, and clinical interventions to prevent adverse drug events. They will also conduct clinical research and other professional development programs. He/she will serve as a liaison to other departments at the Cancer and Infusion Center by providing operational support and educational services for new treatment regimens. The Staff Pharmacist in Oncology demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the regulations governing the preparation of intravenous admixtures, chemotherapy, and other sterile products and supervises Pharmacy technicians and other support personnel. Provides oversight and participates in maintaining and storing adequate inventory of all medication required for the practice. Develop and update department and nursing policies. Work with the Oncology team to standardize ordering procedures for chemotherapeutic medications.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
(Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience:
Extensive acute care clinical experience may be considered in lieu of formal training.
Education and Training:
Doctoral of Pharmacy (Pharm.

D.) from an accredited college of Pharmacy. Completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency in Oncology is preferred. Extensive acute care clinical experience may be considered in lieu of formal training.
License, Certification & Registration:
MAPHARM - Licensed MA Pharmacist. Certified Oncology Pharmacist preferred.
Other Requirements:
Must demonstrate the ability to work independently, without direct supervision within established policy. Applicant must be capable of supervising the work of support personnel. Specialty Pharmacy medication management
