Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our closed-door long-term care pharmacy team. In this role, you will perform prescription verification duties, manage prescription processes, and deliver exceptional patient care and customer service. You will oversee daily pharmacy activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and promoting an efficient and supportive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Review prescriptions from authorized prescribers for accuracy and determine required formulas and ingredients. Compound sterile and non-sterile medications using standard formulas and processes, such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. Direct pharmacy employees in tasks including mixing, packaging, labeling, and processing prescription orders. Ensure accuracy in prescription intake and oversee efficient order fulfillment. Dispense medications and provide counseling to nursing facility staff on the proper use of prescription and over-the-counter medications. Offer guidance to physicians on medication therapy and educate nursing staff on health topics, including diet, exercise, and stress management. Manage storage and record-keeping systems to ensure the safekeeping of pharmaceuticals. Promote open communication with internal and external customers to improve service and production performance. Take ownership and accountability for pharmacy production tasks, ensuring goals and standards are met. Provide on-call support during after-hours, weekends, and holidays. Assist in the development and implementation of quality improvements and ensure prescription order accuracy. Maintain positive relationships with physicians, residents, and facility administrators, addressing pharmacy consulting issues effectively. Participate in staff training, development, and education on pharmacy utilization management concepts.
MUST HAVE
- Licensed Pharmacist in good standing.
- Strong knowledge of compounding (sterile and non-sterile) and prescription verification.
- Experience in a long-term care or closed-door pharmacy environment preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and patient care.
