The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in clinical pharmacy practice, with a focus on specialized areas such as critical care, trauma, oncology, and hospital medicine. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to patient-centered care through expert medication management, interdisciplinary collaboration, and adherence to pharmaceutical regulatory standards. The Clinical Specialty Pharmacist will play a vital role in optimizing therapeutic outcomes, ensuring medication safety, and supporting clinical decision-making within a dynamic hospital environment. Very competitive salary and benefits! Duties Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care for patients across various specialties including critical care, trauma, pediatrics, and oncology. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized medication therapy plans. Monitor patient responses to medications, adjusting therapies as necessary based on pharmacological principles and patient physiology. Ensure compliance with all pharmaceutical regulations and hospital policies related to medication handling, IV infusion preparation, and aseptic techniques. Educate medical staff and patients on medication use, potential side effects, and drug interactions to promote safe medication practices. Oversee pharmacy operations related to drug regulation compliance, medication dispensing accuracy, and inventory management within hospital pharmacy systems. Precept pharmacy residents and students, fostering the development of future clinical pharmacists through mentorship and hands-on training. Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for accurate documentation of patient assessments and medication administration. Requirements Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution with completion of a pharmacy residency program preferred. Valid pharmacist licensure in the applicable jurisdiction with practicing experience in hospital or clinical settings. Demonstrated expertise in managed care principles and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards. Extensive clinical pharmacy experience in acute care environments such as ICU, emergency room, or Level I/II trauma centers. Strong knowledge of pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to patient assessment and medication management. Experience with hospital pharmacy information systems (PIS) including EMR/EHR platforms; proficiency in IV compounding and aseptic techniques essential. Background in specialized areas such as oncology, pain management—including acute pain—and pediatrics is highly desirable. Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining high standards of patient service and safety.
