Summary:
About the Role Join Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and play a vital role in advancing safe, effective, and personalized medication therapy for patients. As a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist, you will be a trusted clinical partner, working closely with an interdisciplinary care team to optimize outcomes for patients navigating complex treatments. This is an opportunity to deepen your expertise in oncology pharmacy, contribute to innovative care practices, and make a meaningful impact every day. The starting annual salary for this position is $138,234 and there will also be an additional geographic differential of $6,007. This can also include a full comprehensive benefits package. What You'll Do In this role, you will focus on improving patient outcomes through expert medication management and collaborative care: Lead comprehensive medication management for a core group of patients, ensuring therapies are appropriate, safe, and effective Evaluate drug therapy for indications, dosing, interactions, and allergies while identifying and preventing adverse drug events Partner with clinical dietitians to optimize parenteral nutrition plans for patient-specific needs Monitor pharmacotherapy effectiveness and proactively adjust care plans to improve outcomes Serve as a clinical resource by providing drug information and IV compatibility guidance to healthcare teams Document clinical interventions, including disease state management, pharmacokinetics, and patient education efforts Collaborate across pharmacy, nursing, and medical teams to support best practices in medication use Educate patients and caregivers on medications and support medication reconciliation during care transitions Contribute to process improvements that enhance medication safety and reduce preventable errors Participate in reporting and analyzing adverse drug events to support continuous quality improvement Mentor pharmacy students, residents, and early-career pharmacists through hands-on and didactic learning experiences Support departmental and organizational initiatives through policy development, education, and committee participation Engage in research, scholarship, or quality initiatives that advance pharmacy practice and patient care What You'll Bring We welcome candidates with a strong clinical foundation and a commitment to ongoing learning and collaboration. Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency, board certification, or active pursuit of PGY2 specialty residency Approximately 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience or equivalent training (PGY1 may count toward experience) Demonstrated ability to evaluate and manage complex medication therapies Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams Experience or interest in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, or program development Exposure to scholarly activities such as research, publications, or presentations is valued Passion for mentoring and supporting the development of future pharmacy professionals Why You'll Love Working Here At Roswell Park, we are driven by a mission to eliminate cancer's grip on humanity. Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience License Requirement License to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of New York Education and Experience 1. Doctor of Pharmacy degree; or 2. Master's degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time clinical pharmacy or pharmacy-related experience; or 3. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time clinical pharmacy or pharmacy-related experience.
NOTES:
1. Incumbents must be credentialed as a member of the organization Medical Staff (Allied Health Professional) within four months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. 2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 1 of the following: Completed PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency Board certified In the process of completion of PGY2 Pharmacy Specialty Residency Program Experience in all 3 of the following:1. 3+ years of work experience in a position of Clinical Pharmacist Specialist (PGY1 Pharmacy Residency accounted for 3 years of clinical experience Experience in of the following: Contributions to scholar activities (within the last 3 years) such as research, publications, and poster presentation. Experience in developing programs contributing to pharmacy practice and patient safety and experience.
