Job Description
Job Summary The Registered Pharmacist provides indirect patient care and is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical services to patients. Working under the general direction of the Director, Assistant Director, or Manager of Pharmacy Services, the pharmacist collaborates with nurses, physicians, pharmacy staff, and other members of the healthcare team. The Registered Pharmacist reviews medication orders against patient medication profiles, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with established hospital and pharmacy policies, procedures, and professional standards. The pharmacist also demonstrates strong professional accountability, leadership, customer service, and a commitment to continuous professional development. Key Responsibilities Review patient medication orders against medication profiles to ensure accuracy and safety. Provide pharmaceutical services in accordance with hospital and pharmacy policies, procedures, and standards. Support medication education, patient safety, and patient rights while addressing the age-specific needs of patients. Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare professionals. Apply sound clinical decision-making, including data collection, prioritization, resource utilization, and collaboration with the healthcare team. Follow established infection control, quality improvement, and risk management practices. Provide oversight and direction to Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Transporters. Maintain professional competency and comply with all required licensing and professional standards. Participate in in-services, quality improvement initiatives, projects, and professional development activities. Demonstrate flexibility when adjusting to staffing needs and assignments. Maintain effective communication and professionalism when working with patients, peers, and other healthcare professionals. Practice appropriate cost containment measures. Demonstrate accountability, reliability, punctuality, and effective time management. Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned.
