Job Description
As a Staff Pharmacist at Walmart, you'll ensure safe, accurate dispensing while counseling patients on prescriptions, OTC products, and disease management. You will oversee daily pharmacy operations, verify orders, perform DUR, and maintain full compliance with state and federal regulations. You'll provide immunizations, support MTM and clinical services, and guide technicians for efficient workflow. In Walmart's collaborative culture, you'll access training, leadership development, and advancement opportunities across retail and health & wellness operations. Responsibilities Accurately verify, dispense, and document prescription medications in a high volume retail setting Provide patient counseling on prescriptions, OTC products, side effects, and disease management Perform drug utilization review and resolve clinical and safety issues with prescribers Administer immunizations and support clinical programs such as MTM and health screenings Ensure full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and Walmart policies Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians, optimizing workflow and customer service Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, storage, and handling of controlled substances Process insurance and third party claims, resolving coverage and prior authorization issues Maintain accurate records, documentation, and quality assurance procedures Contribute to a culture of safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement within the pharmacy and store Required Skills Medication dispensing Patient counseling Pharmacy law and compliance Drug utilization review (DUR) Immunization/vaccination administration Electronic health record (EHR)/pharmacy systems Inventory and formulary management MTM (Medication Therapy Management) Quality assurance and safety protocols Insurance and third-party claims processing
