If you like learning new things, this could be a good opportunity for you. How much of the job is compounding? Most of the job involves compounding. You will be verifying traditional and compounded prescriptions, talking with doctors on the phone, and answering patient questions. We have an amazing team of technicians who do all of our compounding so you will not be be compounding in the lab. What kind of hours would you work? The store is open weekdays from 9-7. No Saturdays or Sundays, or evenings after about 7:15pm. Pharmacists generally work an 8 hour shift on weekdays, starting sometime between 7am and 10:45am, depending on the shift. This is a full time job, so 40 hours per week. We try really hard to keep schedules consistent and easy to remember, so that you can plan your life outside of work. We like to make sure you have time to relax and chill with your family as much as possible. I mean, as much as hanging out with your family can be relaxing, haha. How are you different from a traditional retail pharmacy? At our family owned pharmacy, you will be part of a pharmacist team, and will very rarely be working alone. We don't believe in understaffing our team. Here, you will be given time to properly counsel patients, answer doctor questions, and complete your pharmacist responsibilities without feeling like you are all alone and without the resources to complete your tasks successfully. Patient care is important to us, and so is work-life balance and not burning you out with unrealistic expectations. What are some unique aspects to this job? You will be expected to use your clinical knowledge to help solve tough patient cases. This job is nothing like a traditional retail pharmacy job, where your primary concern is verifying as many prescriptions as necessary. You will of course be involved in verification, but we regularly spend lots of time counseling and interacting with patients. Practitioners also recognize us as the experts in the community, and we help collaborate on finding innovative solutions to help their patients. tldr; You'll use your education, and get to interact with patients in a meaningful way.
