Job Description

General:
To understand and work in all aspects of the institutional pharmacy; correctional, long term care and assisted living.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for reviewing and dispensing of medications in accordance with all State and Federal Laws. Reviews all medication orders for appropriate and rational therapy; checking for proper dosages, potential drug interactions, adverse reactions, and duplicate therapies. Understands internal policies and procedures for checking all types of drug orders; including but not limited to: C-II dispensing. Understands basic workflow concepts to insure consistency of daily operations. Assume responsibility of monitoring workflow in absence of both the Director of Correctional Services and Pharmacist Supervisor. Processes basic computer skills; including but not limited to: internet access, e-mail, and intranet. Maintains professionalism in the workplace, on the telephone, and whenever representing Diamond Pharmacy Services. Willing to accept additional responsibilities when requested. Maintain the confidentiality of all patient and company information in accordance with HIPAA Regulations. Adheres to policies/procedures and scheduling requirements set forth by the Director. Meets/maintains production requirements established by management. Maintains a neat and clean personal appearance. Maintains a confidentiality of all patient and company information. Promotes company and policies in a positive manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • B.S. degree or Pharm D Degree with associate clinical experience during internships/externships, advanced degree in clinical pharmacy, or equivalent work experience.
  • Licensed to practice in the state of Pennsylvania.
Experience/Knowledge:
  • Currently in compliance with mandatory continuing education requirements.
  • Ability to maintain control in stressful situations and offer leadership as a supervisor.
  • Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people to result in constructive working relations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • People-sensitive characteristics with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Ability to organize one's own work.
  • Reliability and honesty.
  • Computer operational knowledge.
Physical Requirements:
