Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:30
PM EST Additional Requirements:
Overtime may be available as business needs dictate. Candidates must be flexible to participate in a rotating weekend schedule.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a licensed Clinical Pharmacist to join a growing pharmacy operations team responsible for reviewing medication prior authorizations and coverage determinations across government-sponsored and commercial health plans. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for pharmacists who enjoy clinical decision-making, working in a fast-paced environment, and making a direct impact on patient access to medications. In this role, you will review and evaluate prior authorization requests, apply clinical criteria and evidence-based guidelines, and collaborate with internal teams to support quality patient care. Successful candidates will be highly adaptable, quick learners, and comfortable managing a high-volume workload. Key Responsibilities + Review and evaluate medication prior authorization requests and coverage determinations. + Make clinically sound coverage decisions based on plan guidelines and established criteria. + Develop and recommend clinical criteria for medications and pharmacy programs. + Support formulary management initiatives and recommend plan design enhancements. + Provide clinical consultation and support to internal departments. + Monitor pharmacy quality metrics and identify opportunities for process improvement. + Assist in the development and implementation of drug utilization review (DUR) programs. + Participate in medication therapy management (MTM) initiatives. + Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy department policies and procedures. Typical Day A typical day consists of reviewing approximately 140-160 prior authorization requests and coverage determinations. Pharmacists are expected to independently assess clinical information, apply coverage criteria, and make timely decisions while maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality. Required Qualifications + Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD). + Current Pharmacist License in good standing with no restrictions. + 3 years of pharmacist experience + Prior authorization or coverage determination experience. + Experience within managed care or health plan environments. + Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and Exchange pharmacy benefits. + Experience with formulary management, MTM programs, or DUR initiatives. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $62.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
