Prescription Dispensing & Safety Verification Evaluate prescriptions : Check provider orders for appropriate drug selection, accurate dosing, drug-drug interactions, and potential contraindications. Workflow verification : Supervise and sign off on all steps of the technician prescription-filling process.
Compounding :
Prepare specialized liquid medicines, ointments, or custom doses according to physician specifications. [1, 3] 2. Clinical & Patient Care Services Patient counseling : Educate customers on correct medication usage, common side effects, storage requirements, and cost-effective alternatives. [, 2] Immunization administration : Deliver routine vaccines (such as flu, shingles, and pneumonia shots) in accordance with state protocols. [, 2] Medication Therapy Management (MTM) : Review comprehensive drug regimens for high-risk patients to optimize therapeutic outcomes and adherence. [1] 3. Operations & Team Leadership Staff supervision : Direct daily workflow, manage technician assignments, and mentor pharmacy team members. Inventory control : Maintain proper storage conditions (e.g., refrigeration), monitor expiration dates, manage drug shortages, and handle controlled substance ordering and disposal. Regulatory compliance : Ensure the pharmacy adheres to the state Board of Pharmacy rules, FDA requirements, and federal controlled substance laws. Financial billing : Troubleshoot third-party insurance claims, coordinate prior authorizations, and resolve audit discrepancies
