Job Description

Pharmacist | PharmD Required (Part-Time) Job Description This Pharmacist role is responsible for overseeing the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications within a distribution pharmacy environment. The Pharmacist ensures all prescriptions are verified, prepared, and distributed according to state and federal regulations while providing clinical guidance and support to pharmacy technicians and patients. This position plays a critical role in maintaining medication safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced setting. Responsibilities Ensure full compliance with all federal and state pharmacy regulations, including State Board of Pharmacy requirements. Review, verify, and approve prescription orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and safety. Provide clinical oversight of medication dispensing, ensuring proper drug selection, dosage, and labeling. Supervise and support pharmacy technicians in medication preparation, filling, labeling, and packaging processes. Monitor inventory levels, controlled substances, and storage conditions to ensure compliance and accuracy. Identify and resolve discrepancies, including errors, recalls, expired medications, and inventory issues. Counsel patients, caregivers, or healthcare providers on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and storage. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and pharmacy benefits management (PBM) teams to resolve prescription issues, prior authorizations, and coverage concerns. Oversee documentation, recordkeeping, and audit readiness for all pharmacy operations. Maintain quality assurance standards and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment. Support workflow optimization in a high-volume distribution setting. Skills Active TN Pharmacist license in good standing (required). Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and medication safety standards. Experience verifying prescriptions and overseeing pharmacy operations. Attention to detail with the ability to identify and prevent medication errors. Strong communication and patient counseling skills. Ability to lead and supervise pharmacy technicians effectively. Familiarity with pharmacy systems, prescription processing, and automated dispensing technology. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment. Additional Skills Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution. Experience in a retail, hospital, or distribution pharmacy environment. Knowledge of pharmacy benefits management and insurance processes. Experience with high-volume prescription fulfillment operations is preferred. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Immunization certification (preferred, depending on setting). Work Environment This position is based in a high-volume distribution pharmacy setting focused on prescription fulfillment and medication management. The Pharmacist works closely with pharmacy technicians and other healthcare professionals in a structured, process-driven environment that emphasizes accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance. The role may require evening and weekend shifts, depending on operational needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $61.00 - $61.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
