Job Description

Summary The sterile pharmacist shall be responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of medications to the public and for adherence to all state and federal laws pertaining to the practice of pharmacy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Shift:
Monday-Friday, 12:00 PM-8:30 PM Training Schedule Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, or Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM-7:30 PM Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receiving new prescription orders orally from a prescriber or other person authorized by law. The interpretation of clinical data. Final inspection of all packaged drugs prior to dispensing to the patient. The pharmacist shall directly oversee and supervise the activities of all pharmacy interns and technicians. The pharmacist shall retain the professional and personal responsibility for any delegated task performed by interns and technicians under his or her supervision. Review and verification of all controlled medications received from drug wholesalers. Accurate and timely completion of all required documents, forms, and reports as outlined in the company policy and procedure manual. Participation in the pharmacy's continuous quality improvement program. Maintain the prescription department as clean, safe, and secure. Required to test for Pharmacy Licenses in multiple jurisdictions. Prescription Verification 1 Review and evaluation of all prescriptions and the assurance of accuracy in the patient's prescription record. Perform Drug Utilization Review of all prescriptions received Consultation with patients or their agents about drug or medical information. Consultation with any prescriber or their authorized agent. Transfer prescriptions to and from other pharmacies or institutions The pharmacist shall directly oversee and supervise the activities of all pharmacy interns and technicians. Prescription Verification 2 Review and evaluation of all prescriptions and the assurance of accuracy in the patient's prescription record. Ensure Drug Utilization Review of all prescriptions has been completed prior to dispensing/shipping Ensure the accuracy and completeness of prescription orders that have been filled Confirm calculations for all compounds Maintains control of the controlled substance storage and logs-controlled medications being added or removed from storage The pharmacist shall directly oversee and supervise the activities of all pharmacy interns and technicians including (but not limited to) the loading of the automated dispensing machine, filling of prescription orders and confirming the accuracy of drug selection.
Sterile lab pharmacist:
  • Verification of compounding medication accuracy based on ingredients, weights and finished product.
  • Professional resource for new product development
  • Ensure compliance with all company procedures, federal and state laws, rules and regulations related to compounding sterile products
  • Provide counsel to professionals who have questions or problems with compounded and non-compounded medications
  • Oversee, assist and compound sterile preparations
  • Perform environmental monitoring of clean room (fingertip plating and surface plating)
  • Perform visual inspection of finished sterile drug preparations
  • Ensure that compounded medications have been properly compounded, packaged, labelled
  • Ensure proper storage of compounded medications
  • Collaboration with management staff regarding formula development, pricing strategy and workflow
  • Ensure department staff follow all safety procedures and guidelines for preparation of sterile compounds
  • Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas
  • Special projects as assigned (ex: creating and amending PI leaflets)
  • The Sterile Pharmacist must conduct himself/herself in a professional manner in conformity with all applicable federal, state, and municipal laws and regulations in his/her relationship with the public, health care professions, and pharmacists.
  • Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Ensures adherence to USP / , state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains and monitors cleanroom environment, including documentation, gowning compliance, and aseptic technique.
  • Collaborates with compounding staff, quality assurance, and operations management to resolve issues and ensure continuous compliance.
  • Performs assigned sterile compounding workload in addition to any additional supportive tasks.
  • Ensures all duties are performed in a professional, ethical, and compliant manner.
  • Other duties as assigned. Education
  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Clear and active pharmacy license issued by the State of TX Board of Pharmacy.
  • Completion of ACPE-approved sterile compounding training preferred. Experience
  • Preferred Minimum of two (2) years of sterile compounding experience in a 503A or 503B pharmacy, hospital, or equivalent healthcare setting.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of USP and USP regulations.
  • Understanding aseptic technique, environmental monitoring, and proper gowning procedures.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and ensure strict compliance with SOPs and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead effectively, foster teamwork, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with compounding documentation systems, pharmacy software, and Microsoft Office. Qualifications

  • Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
  • Language skills sufficient to read and interpret SOPs, batch records, safety documents, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mathematical skills include calculations of proportions, percentages, concentrations, and dilutions.
  • Strong reasoning ability to identify and resolve compounding and workflow challenges. Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, and communicate clearly.
  • Frequently required to reach, bend, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to tolerate cleanroom gowning requirements and extended periods of standing in a controlled environment.
Pay:
$125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
