The residency is designed to offer an individualized training plan for each resident based on their interests, goals and past experiences. Residents will be required to complete core rotations in order to build a strong knowledge base and have the opportunity to select elective rotations in different fields of interest.

Currently licensed or will be licensed by August 31 st of the year they are hired to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas. Must sign off on Residency Manual during Orientation (July) Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues. Organizational skills are necessary Good written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to read, write and speak English Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians Prefer hospital experience.

Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR), in conjunction with Texas A&M Rangel College of Pharmacy, is offering a Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) pharmacy residency designed to advance the practice of post graduate pharmacists. The PGY 1 pharmacy residency is a twelve-month program designed to expose residents to a comprehensive clinical environment in which they will develop knowledge and skills in direct patient care in both acute and ambulatory care settings, teaching and research. At the completion of the program, the resident will be prepared to function as a clinical pharmacist responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. Our program is a 12 month post graduate curriculum (July 1 st to June 30 th ) that offers training opportunities in acute care, ambulatory care, drug information, drug use policy development, clinical services and pharmacy leadership. The program is designed to develop the following competencies: Patient care, Advancing Practice and Improving Patient Care, Leadership and Management and Teaching, Education, and Dissemination of Knowledge.The residency is designed to offer an individualized training plan for each resident based on their interests, goals and past experiences. POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS

Responsibilities:

The pharmacy resident is a key position with many challenging responsibilities. Assist in planning, design, implementation, and demonstrates the value of pharmacy services, Works with peers/staff to achieve pharmacy and departmental goals, Takes responsibility for personal and professional growth, Maintains familiarity with all departmental programs and works as integral part of the pharmacy team Abide by the "Goal Statements, Objectives, and Instructional Objectives for Pharmacy Practice Residency Training" by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) are embraced as those of the program. Practice personal and professional responsibility and communication skills to patients, other healthcare practitioners, and others. Further develop his/her drug therapy assessment ability by drug therapy review, physician rounding, patient contact, and interaction with healthcare personnel. Provide quality patient care by involvement with medical care, provision of drug delivery, pharmacy systems, in-service activities, and quality assurance related to medications. Develop skills related to the provision of drug information, formulary considerations, pharmacokinetic consultations, clinical recommendations for therapy, and patient medication counseling. Preceptor pharmacy students completing clinical clerkships Participate in educational activities such as pharmacy student case conferences, physician journal club, staff development, and other interdisciplinary programs. Conduct a project related to pharmacy practice. Function as a pharmacy representative in various interdisciplinary committees. Become familiar with investigational drug studies.
