Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Direct Hire This role offers the opportunity to lead the launch and daily management of a new specialty pharmacy within a dynamic specialty pharmacy management group focused on supporting clinic clients. As the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC), you will be instrumental in building the pharmacy from the ground up, overseeing all aspects including regulatory compliance, insurance contracting, and operational readiness.

TBD Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge with full accountability for licensure, controlled substances oversight, and regulatory compliance including Board of Pharmacy and DEA requirements Lead build-out, opening, and operational launch of a new specialty pharmacy Manage insurance contract onboarding and coordinate with accrediting and regulatory bodies Oversee daily pharmacy functions: accurate dispensing, patient safety, medication access, and clinical protocol adherence Develop and enforce policies for prescription processing, drug storage, security, and records management Supervise, train, and support pharmacy team members to promote quality and compliance Collaborate with healthcare providers and clinic staff to enhance coordinated specialty care and optimize formulary and access Handle medication incident investigations, inventory controls, recall procedures, and temperature-sensitive drug handling Drive strategic initiatives to grow pharmacy services and participate in value-based care efforts
Desired Qualifications:
Prior Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacy Manager experience with strong leadership capabilities Solid background in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy operations; inpatient experience not suitable Licensed PharmD with an active, unrestricted pharmacist license eligible for PIC status in Texas Expertise in specialty medications and familiarity navigating prior authorizations, benefits investigation, and financial assistance processes Experience with pharmacy software systems (QS1, ComputerRx, PioneerRx, WAM, etc.); bonus for EMR and specialty pharmacy platforms Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills with an ability to collaborate effectively with providers and clinic teams Enthusiasm for working in a start-up environment and building new workflows and processes Collaborative, patient-focused approach with a creative problem-solving mindset
