Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Direct Hire A specialty pharmacy management group is seeking a Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for a newly established specialty pharmacy located in Lufkin, TX. This direct hire opportunity requires relocation, with ideal candidates currently residing in Houston, Tyler, or surrounding areas. The position offers a unique opportunity to lead the build-out and launch of a state-of-the-art specialty pharmacy that supports specialty care clinics and enhances patient outcomes.

Direct Hire Key Responsibilities Serve as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge, ensuring compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, and DEA standards. Oversee all pharmacy operations, including licensure, controlled substance oversight, and regulatory inspections. Manage pharmacy build-out and operational launch activities. Facilitate insurance contract onboarding and collaborate with regulatory and accreditation entities. Supervise and train staff to maintain quality and compliance standards. Collaborate with healthcare providers to improve specialty medication access, coordinating prior authorizations and appeals as needed. Maintain inventory control, including handling of temperature-sensitive drugs and recalls. Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives and support strategic pharmacy growth plans. Act as a clinical expert, providing patient counseling and managing therapeutic substitutions. Desired Experience and Qualifications Active, unrestricted Texas pharmacist license eligible to serve as PIC. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree. Prior experience as Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacy Manager in an outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy environment (inpatient pharmacist experience does not qualify). Strong knowledge of specialty medication benefits, prior authorizations, and financial assistance processes. Proficiency with pharmacy software such as QS1, ComputerRx, PioneerRx, or WAM; familiarity with EMR or specialty pharmacy systems is a plus. Excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset to work effectively with providers and clinic clients. Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of independent initiative while fostering teamwork. Comfortable working in a start-up environment with a passion for building efficient workflows and processes.
