Category Pharmacy - Pharmacist Job Type Contract A healthcare facility in Portsmouth, VA, is seeking a skilled inpatient pharmacist for a 13-week contract starting June 29. This role supports patient care through expert medication management and collaboration with clinical teams.

Shift Schedule:
Rotating shifts including:
Day:
0630-1500, 0730-1600, 0900-1730, 1000-1830
Evening:
1300-2130, 1430-2300
Overnight:
1930-0730, 2030-0730
Key Responsibilities:
Verify medication orders and ensure accurate order entry Manage IV medications, pain control analgesia, and antibiotic therapies Identify and monitor drug interactions Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize pharmacokinetic and renal dosing Handle chemotherapy and anticoagulant protocols (preferred) Maintain thorough and accurate documentation using EMR systems
Qualifications and Experience:
Current VA pharmacist license must be held at time of application (non-negotiable) Minimum 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience required Prior travel pharmacy experience is preferred Proficiency in EPIC charting system is mandatory Strong knowledge of IV drug administration, pain management, antibiotics, and drug interactions required Familiarity with pharmacokinetic dosing and renal adjustments is a plus This position offers an opportunity to provide critical pharmacy services in a dynamic hospital environment with varied shifts accommodating different schedules.
