Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Pharmacist Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for an inpatient pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care in a hospital setting. This contract assignment is based in Virginia Beach, VA, with a 13-week duration starting on June 29. The position requires working rotating shifts, including days, evenings, and overnights.
Schedule/Hours:
Day shifts: 0630-1500, 0730-1600, 0900-1730, 1000-1830 Evening shifts: 1300-2130, 1430-2300 Overnight shifts: 1930-0730, 2030-0730
Key Responsibilities:
Verify and enter medication orders with accuracy Manage pain control analgesia and antibiotic therapies Monitor drug interactions and provide clinical recommendations Administer IV medications and support inpatient medication needs Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes Utilize EMR for documentation, specifically EPIC charting
Qualifications:
Must hold a valid Virginia pharmacist license at the time of application Minimum of 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience required Proven experience with IV medications, pain control, antibiotics, drug interaction checks, and order verification Familiarity with chemotherapy protocols, anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing is preferred EPIC electronic medical record experience is required Prior travel pharmacy experience is an asset This position offers a dynamic work environment in a regional medical center, ideal for pharmacists seeking hands-on inpatient practice with diverse clinical responsibilities.
