Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract Join a dynamic pharmacy team in New Berlin, WI, on a 9-week contract with a well-established long-term care facility seeking experienced pharmacists. This opportunity offers a rewarding role providing direct patient care and medication management in a supportive and collaborative environment. Pharmacists will play an essential role in ensuring patient safety and optimizing therapeutic outcomes.
Location:
New Berlin, WI Schedule:
Second shift, 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM Rotating weekends
Key Responsibilities:
Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently Monitor patient medication compliance, identifying over-usage patterns to maximize safety Ensure all dispensing and medicine supply complies with legal requirements Maintain confidential, accurate patient records and pharmacy files Provide patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, and drug interactions Educate patients on medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters Perform compounding of medications and prepare sterile solutions following protocols Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks, fostering teamwork Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related issues Offer patient services like smoking cessation counseling, blood pressure, and cholesterol management Qualifications /
Desired Experience:
Valid Wisconsin pharmacist license (WI license in-hand required) Experience in retail pharmacy is welcome; willingness to train is available Ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers This contract offers the chance for pharmacists to engage in meaningful patient care within a trusted long-term care setting. The site regularly requests pharmacist support every 2-3 years and is open again for placements. Candidates local to the area ready to start promptly will be prioritized due to a slower internal update process.
