The Assistant Manager - Pharmacy Operations provides hands-on leadership for inpatient pharmacy operations at Fairview Hospital, with primary responsibility for overseeing sterile compounding services, central pharmacy workflow, and a team of approximately 19 pharmacy technicians. This role combines operational leadership with active involvement in day-to-day pharmacy activities, requiring the ability to step directly into workflow to support staffing needs, IV room operations, and overall departmental efficiency. Serving as the Designated Person for sterile compounding, the Assistant Manager is responsible for maintaining compliance with USP standards, regulatory requirements, accreditation expectations, and state board regulations related to sterile compounding practices. Additional responsibilities include technician scheduling, performance management, coaching and development, hiring and onboarding support, process improvement initiatives, and driving operational excellence to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality pharmacy services across the department. A caregiver in this position will work Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 4:30pm with on-call requirements every 6 weeks (Friday to Friday). No weekends or holidays required. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Review, analyze, evaluate and assess the technical operations of these areas to ensure a safe and efficient workflow. Coordinate all activities with the management team and act as a liaison between the managers and technical caregivers. Directly supervise the activities of assigned caregivers. Ensure adequate staffing of areas. Review daily, monthly and other periodic management reports to monitor service levels. Plan, develop and manage all policies and processes related to technical pharmacy operations. Determine short- and long-term needs and goals, assist in the development of budgets for both operating and capital needs and project manpower and equipment needs. Maintain and foster relationships and serve as a resource for pharmacy personnel and affiliated areas (i.e. nursing, external vendors) regarding technical pharmacy operations. Conduct performance appraisals, initiate promotions, counsel caregivers and process corrective action. Provide the manager with timely feedback regarding operational issues to ensure efficient workflow. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical science or a related field. A minimum of an additional 4 years of pharmacy-related experience to include leadership experience may offset the Bachelor's degree requirement Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 6 months Three years of experience in a healthcare or related setting. An additional four years of pharmacy-related experience, including leadership experience, may substitute the bachelor's degree requirement Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Master's degree. This may substitute the required experience Pharmacy experience Supervisory/management experience Sterile Compounding experience highly preferred
Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, stooping, and sitting for prolonged times. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds while walking, stooping, bending and reaching. Normal or corrected vision. Extensive sitting for prolonged periods of time. Ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone and in person.

Pay Range Minimum Annual Salary:
$63,250.00
Maximum Annual Salary:
$96,467.50 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
