Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Pharmacy Associate to join our retail pharmacy team. The ideal candidate will have strong data entry skills, excellent customer service ability, and a genuine passion for helping patients. This position supports daily pharmacy operations, assists customers and pharmacy staff, and helps ensure prescriptions are processed accurately and efficiently. Prior retail pharmacy experience is preferred, and education or training in a healthcare-related field is required. Key Responsibilities Enter new prescriptions accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy system. Review patient pharmacy profiles for accuracy, completeness, and potential issues. Answer incoming customer calls in a professional and helpful manner. Assist patients with prescription status questions, refill requests, delivery updates, and general pharmacy inquiries. Help resolve daily pharmacy operating issues and escalate concerns to the pharmacist or manager as needed. Track prescriptions that have not been picked up and follow up with patients when appropriate. Track medication deliveries and coordinate with patients, delivery staff, and pharmacy team members. Support prescription workflow, including intake, processing, refill coordination, and patient communication. Verify patient demographic, insurance, and prescription information for accuracy. Communicate with prescribers' offices, insurance plans, and patients as directed. Assist with prior authorization follow-up, refill requests, and prescription clarification when needed. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and pharmacy privacy standards. Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional pharmacy environment. Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate compassion when assisting patients. Perform other pharmacy support duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Education or training in a healthcare-related field is required. Strong data entry skills and accurate typing ability are required. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to answer calls professionally and handle patient concerns with patience and care. Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn pharmacy software systems. Ability to follow procedures, maintain confidentiality, and comply with pharmacy regulations. Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks at once. Passion for helping patients and supporting positive patient outcomes. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working in a retail pharmacy, healthcare office, or customer service healthcare setting. Familiarity with prescription processing, pharmacy profiles, insurance billing, refill coordination, and delivery tracking. Pharmacy technician experience or certification is a plus, but not required unless required by state law. Bilingual ability is a plus. Skills Needed for Success Fast and accurate typing/data entry.
