Job Description

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An Interim Director of Pharmacy opportunity is available at a smaller inpatient facility in Ottumwa, Iowa. This role offers the chance to lead a pharmacy team through a critical transition period, providing strong management and operational oversight while supporting recruitment for a permanent hire.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and lead a team of 3 pharmacists and 4 technicians. Manage inpatient pharmacy services, including oversight of sterile compounding compliant with USP 797 and 800 standards. Provide staffing leadership, coordinate schedules, and participate in meetings to ensure smooth pharmacy operations. Oversee financial performance related to pharmacy services. Assist in stabilizing pharmacy operations and represent the staffing agency during the interim period. Provide limited on-call coverage to support staffing needs.
Desired Qualifications:
Current Iowa pharmacist license is required. Demonstrated experience in inpatient pharmacy operations and staff management. Familiarity with Meditech order entry system and Omnicell automation preferred. Strong leadership skills with the ability to stabilize and improve pharmacy workflow. Prior experience with sterile compounding and regulatory compliance.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday business hours with some flexibility as needed.
