Job DescriptionThe Manager Pharmacy reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Manager of Pharmacy is tasked with overseeing Pharmacy Services. This includes strategic planning, daily operations, and aligning Northwestern Medicine's goals and strategies with the Work Unit/Department's strategic plan. Additionally, they collaborate with clinical leadership to define and implement clinical and distributive services, manage pharmaceutical educational programs, and manage financial and personnel management.
Additional ResponsibilitiesManages the day-to-day operations of the home infusion pharmacy; an integrated business unit (home infusion, specialty home infusion, and durable medical equipment supplier) of Northwestern Medicine. Supports the post-acute and ambulatory needs of the health system.
Oversees the safety and integrity of USP sterile compounding operation. Ensures compliance to USP and Joint Commission standards. Maintains departmental policies and procedures.
Oversees critical elements of state licensure and federal regulations such as record keeping, inventory management, audits, and renewals. Functions as the pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) for the organization.
Identifies areas for operational efficiencies as it pertains to workflows, configuration of dispensing software, IV dose forms, and delineation of responsibilities.
Manages subcontracted relationships with vendors such as courier and infusion nursing services.
Background CheckNorthwestern Medicine conducts a background check that includes criminal history on newly hired team members and, at times, internal transfers. If you are offered a position with us, you will be required to complete an authorization and disclosure form that gives Northwestern Medicine permission to run the background check. QualificationsRequired:
Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy from accredited College of PharmacyIllinois Licensed Pharmacist3-5 years of experience in a health care institution or equivalent advanced Pharmacy residency/fellowship trainingEffective oral/written communication skills with all levels of internal and external customersHome Infusion:
5 years' experience in Home Infusion, acute care, or specialty pharmacyProcurement Operations:
Consulting or group presentation skillsStrong negotiation skillsDemonstrated ability to facilitate change and achieve savings goalsOperational knowledge of pharmacy technology, and automation systemsPreferred:
