Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Drive pharmacy operations as Director of Pharmacy at a behavioral health facility in Indianapolis, IN, with a contract opportunity available from March 30 through June 30, 2026—or until a permanent placement is secured. This role demands strong inpatient pharmacy leadership within a fast-paced, specialized environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage pharmacy staffing to ensure optimal coverage and performance Verify and dispense medications, including controlled substances, with accuracy and compliance Oversee the Pyxis automated dispensing system and order entry processes (HCS experience helpful but training provided) Ensure adherence to regulatory standards including Joint Commission, CMS, and state pharmacy board requirements Provide on-call coverage as needed during evenings and weekends Collaborate with administrative teams and outgoing leadership for seamless transition and ongoing support Qualifications And Experience Current Indiana pharmacist licensure in good standing is mandatory Proven inpatient pharmacy and leadership experience Comfortable navigating medication order systems and pharmacy automation Ability to work independently in an environment without pharmacy technician support Behavioral health pharmacy experience is highly preferred Local candidates favored; travel expense reimbursement available if relocating Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, plus on-call duties Weekend on-call coverage as required Benefits And Perks Comprehensive training onsite and remote support from associate directors of pharmacy Opportunity to influence quality and regulatory compliance in a Joint Commission-accredited setting Business casual or scrubs dress code for a professional, comfortable atmosphere This contract role offers a unique chance to lead pharmacy services in a specialty behavioral health environment while ensuring safe, compliant medication management.
