Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract This contract opportunity is designed for an experienced pharmacy professional to serve as the Interim Director of Pharmacy for a new inpatient behavioral health facility preparing to open in mid-July. The facility focuses on psychiatric and behavioral health services and is located near St. Louis, Missouri.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee pharmacy opening operations, including setup, procurement, packaging, and stocking of Pyxis automated medication systems Verify medication orders and ensure compliance with behavioral health pharmacy protocols Serve as primary pharmacy representative, communicating regularly with C-suite executives and the Area Director of Pharmacy Manage on-call coverage Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with weekend on-call responsibilities Collaborate remotely with the Area Director of Pharmacy for training and support Maintain a business casual or scrub dress code; no sterile compounding duties involved
Qualifications and Experience:
Licensed Missouri pharmacist with Medication Therapy Services credentials Proven background in inpatient behavioral health pharmacy operations Proficiency and hands-on experience with Pyxis automation systems Comfortable working independently with no pharmacy tech support on site Experience with HCS order entry system is preferred; training provided if needed Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Schedule and Duration:
Full-time Monday through Friday, 8 AM-4 PM plus on-call coverage, beginning July 6th until permanent hire (approximately 8+ weeks) Weekend coverage limited to on-call duties only
