Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract A leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Director of Pharmacy to oversee the pharmacy operations at a behavioral health hospital located in Independence, Missouri. This contract position focuses on launching and managing pharmacy services in a newly opened inpatient behavioral facility, ensuring smooth daily operations and adherence to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish and open the hospital pharmacy, including policy development and procedure implementation Collaborate with nursing staff to order and manage medication inventory Stock and maintain automated dispensing machines (Omnicell preferred) Utilize order entry systems such as HCS or Cerner for medication management Provide coverage Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., plus on-call availability during weekdays and weekends Communicate progress and updates regularly through weekly calls and emails Adapt to evolving needs as the facility grows and operations stabilize
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Licensed pharmacist in Missouri with current good standing Proven experience in inpatient behavioral health pharmacy settings Familiarity with order entry systems HCS or Cerner preferred Experience with site automation such as Omnicell preferred Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently Flexibility and adaptability to manage a new pharmacy program with no onsite technician support
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On-call coverage weekdays and weekends This contract role starts between April 27th and no later than May 4th, continuing until a permanent Director of Pharmacy is hired.
