Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract A leadership opportunity is available to oversee inpatient pharmacy services at a well-established healthcare facility in West Plains, MO, covering a seven-week period from early July through October with two weeks of onsite training beforehand. This role requires a licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) with a strong background in inpatient pharmacy practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services, managing daily operations and departmental leadership Develop and maintain schedules for pharmacists and technicians Collaborate with the Buyer to resolve medication supply chain challenges Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, including meeting preparation and implementation of initiatives Participate in multiple medical staff committee meetings and COPD readmissions reduction efforts Conduct monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles to enhance communication and workflow Manage controlled substances orders twice weekly and oversee payroll and Pyxis user access Provide guidance and support to pharmacy staff as a primary resource Assume pharmacist-in-charge responsibilities, ensuring compliance and regulatory standards Potentially perform sterile compounding duties during staff shortages
Qualifications and Experience:
Active Missouri pharmacist license and certification in Medication Therapy Services Proven experience in inpatient pharmacy operations Familiarity with Meditech Expanse order entry system preferred, particularly drug dictionary management Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams

Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30
PM Staff:
Approximately 4.5 pharmacist and 6 technician full-time equivalents
Specialty Areas:
Includes OB (excluding NICU/high-risk pregnancy), orthopedics, pediatrics (no PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, adult behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care
