Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract An interim leadership opportunity is available for a pharmacy professional specializing in inpatient behavioral health. This contract role involves directing pharmacy operations at a newly opening facility with an anticipated go-live date of mid-July 2026. The site has a unique operational scale, beginning with 12 licensed beds under a total capacity of 96, and requires carving out the pharmacy setup from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead pharmacy setup and ongoing operations at the new inpatient behavioral health facility. Collaborate with executive leadership and area Directors of Pharmacy to ensure seamless communication and operational alignment. Manage procurement, packaging, and stocking of medications, specifically maintaining Pyxis automation systems. Oversee order verification processes as patients begin onsite. Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements; no sterile compounding involved. Provide on-call coverage on weekends and main coverage Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Potential startup support responsibilities as needed.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Active Missouri Pharmacist License with qualifications in Medication Therapy Services. Proven expertise in inpatient behavioral health pharmacy practice. Demonstrated experience with Pyxis automation systems essential. Familiarity with HCS order entry system; training will be provided. Ability to work independently in a pharmacy without tech support. Strong leadership and communication skills, comfortable interacting with C-suite executives.
Location Details:
Based near St. Louis, MO, with easy access via St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Local candidates preferred given onsite management duties and support requirements.
Schedule:
Coverage starting July 6th, extending approximately 8+ weeks until permanent hire. Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., plus on-call weekend coverage.
