Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for an experienced pharmacy professional to serve as the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services in West Plains, MO, on a contract basis. This role requires a Missouri pharmacist license and Medication Therapy Services certification, with a focus on leading a dedicated pharmacy team in a dynamic inpatient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the inpatient pharmacy department, including creating schedules for 4.5 pharmacist and 6 technician FTEs. Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), ensuring compliance and providing expert guidance. Manage the drug dictionary within the Meditech Expanse order entry system. Lead Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meetings, preparing agendas, facilitating discussions, and implementing initiatives. Participate in multiple medical staff committee meetings and contribute to COPD readmissions reduction efforts. Manage payroll and user access to Pyxis systems. Order controlled substances twice weekly and handle sterile compounding as needed. Facilitate daily department huddles and monthly meetings to maintain team communication and alignment. Address medication supply chain concerns in collaboration with the Buyer.
Desired Qualifications:
Proven inpatient pharmacy experience. Must hold Missouri pharmacist licensure. Certification in Medication Therapy Services. Familiarity with Meditech Expanse system preferred. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to act as a resource for pharmacy staff during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM). This contract position includes two weeks of onsite training prior to coverage, which is expected approximately from early July through October 1. The dress code is business casual or scrubs in any color or print, supporting a professional yet comfortable environment. This role does not require after-hours on-call duties but does require responsiveness during business hours to staff inquiries.
