- Job Summary and Qualifications
- Plans, organizes, controls, and supervises activities in hospital pharmacy according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and State and Federal laws.
Major Responsibilities:
+ Develops and enforces policies and procedures that promote cost-effective, appropriate, and safe medication use. + Develops and maintains a medical staff-approved formulary. + Supervises medication storage and preparation areas throughout the facility and off-site clinics. + Provides for the educational needs of health care professionals, patients, and their families. + Ensures maintenance of an adequate medication supply. Ensured the integrity of the medication supply. + Establishes specifications for the procurement of medications, chemicals, and biologicals. + Assures adequate control and documentation of controlled substances. + Ensures safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. + Ensures strict control and accountability for medications dispensed to patients. + Monitors and justifies all expenses exceeding budgeted targets. + Ensures compliance with health system policies and procedures that apply to pharmacy services. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. + Develops and implements a strategic plan for the pharmacy that supports the mission and goals of the organization. + Develops and implements pharmacy services in collaboration with associated department services. + Develops, implements, and maintains a program that improves the quality of pharmacy services and supports the performance improvement plan of the organization. + Participates in all committees/functions required by the organization including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. + Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.- What qualifications you will need:
Required Education & Experience:
- B.S. or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy. Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems required.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Completion of a 1-year pharmacy practice residency, specialty residency, or fellowship, or at least 3 years of pharmacy experience is strongly preferred
