M Duties & Responsibilities The Senior Director makes key strategic decisions, in concert with the Senior AVP, Pharmacy Operations, regarding outpatient pharmacy business services including the management, development and optimization of related pharmacy business programs. He/she assists the Senior AVP in establishing the policies and processes used to guide outpatient pharmacy and overseeing daily operations. He/She performs site visits, interacting with pharmacy leadership to establish efficient workflow, identify ways to optimize pharmacy financials, and set systemwide goals. This role oversees all outpatient pharmacy business initiatives to ensure proper execution and positive outcomes. The Senior Director analyzes and evaluates the business needs, and serves as a liaison between the business, quality, ambulatory, clinical and pharmacy teams. He/she assists with financial and strategic planning activities related to optimization of outpatient pharmacy operations. He/She will assist in all pharmacy initiatives, such as implementation of pharmacy business programs, software optimization and pharmacy remodels and renovations.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning
  • Leverages data capabilities to drive decision making with a view on the future focus of the business, innovation and creativity, and efficiency improvements.
  • Participates in the development of strategic policies and procedures for areas of the business where there is need.
  • Makes recommendations to Health System Leadership regarding operational practices to drive business growth and enhance patient/customer experience.
  • Identifies and develops new business initiatives and opportunities consistent with the mission and strategic direction of the Health System under the direction of Senior Leadership.
  • Establishes and measures organizational performance against goals and objectives.
  • Leads daily operations, interprets changes in the marketplace, generates ideas, and participates in initiatives that increase our market advantage.
  • Defines aim, objective, metrics, and process measures to implement management controls and reporting procedures to ensure that the department has up to date situational awareness of all core issues and operating data pertinent to sound decision making.
  • Coordinates with senior management to standardize business practices and implement business plans. Operational Performance
  • Monitors and evaluates the impact of industry trends on the area's current business performance and competitive outlook.
  • Ensures that staff is properly allocated with appropriate resources in order to achieve project deliverables, expectations and goals.
  • Focuses on key performance indicators (KPI) and quality measures to evaluate and improve pharmacy workflow, as well as patient satisfaction.
  • Ensures active communication between Central Office and facilities to establish strong relationships that are complimentary and consistent with organizational goals and strategic needs. Staff Development
  • Interviews, trains, supervise, supports and evaluates direct reports.
  • Guides developing Operational Leaders on performance Improvement techniques including assisting with strategic planning of initiatives focused on Health System priorities.
  • Manages staff development and training with a focus on productivity, staff retention, and succession planning.
  • Conducts and submits annual performance appraisals. Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensures that all pharmacy staff adheres to the laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to pharmacy practice.
  • Oversees maintenance of all pharmacy licensing and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to PBM contracting, state board registration, recertifications, and all accreditations. Analyzes business needs and ensures that functional and technical requirements are documented.
  • Develops KPIs and dashboards to create transparency, monitor success metrics, project status and support financial reporting.
  • Develops POCs, Project Charters, Project and Business Plans.
  • Prepares routine project status reports.
  • Provides regular project status information to team members, including attending required meetings and following-up on action items.
Develops and manages best-practices and tools for performance improvement plan execution and management. Identifies and manages performance improvement dependencies and critical path issues. Serve as an operational resource for internal team members for expedited problem identification and resolution, provision of project-specific updates, team interactions and deadlines. Minimum Qualifications 1.Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Healthcare Administration, Health Care Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related discipline; and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and inter-organizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or 2.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in "1" above; and eight(8)years of progressively responsible experience in areas, as listed in "1"; or 3.Satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in disciplines, as listed in "1" above. Department Preferences Strong leadership, and partnership skills, keen analytical skills, as well as strong writing and presentation skills. Strong sense of ownership, excellent inter-personal and problem-solving skills, and be interested in playing a meaningful role in the operation of a large, integrated healthcare delivery system. Retail/Community Pharmacy Operations Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills, required. Ability to formulate, develop and implement service programs and to direct and supervise service personnel and staff activities. Ability to work effectively with facility leadership, medical personnel, and to coordinate programs and activities.
